History in the Walls

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut bibendum tortor sit amet ligula rutrum, at porta tortor convallis ...

Exploring time, loss, love, and change, I’ve carefully selected a building whose history I aim to preserve. 888 DuPont, a Toronto art studio building soon to be lost due to condo development. Through my labour-intensive practice and attention to detail, I capture every shadow, window reflection, and dented wall. Each painting has a history, each memory has a history, each interaction, touch, and broken window has its own history. While still integrating my own experience, I strive to create honest representations of the communities and places I am surrounded by. My paintings act as love letters to the lives intertwined with the places where people come together. My work becomes something where I can love and be loved back. Through preserving single moments within communities, my work is conscious of change. Love and time are used as a medium to tell stories. Uncovering remnants and environments of the human condition, my work overcomes distance. Buildings get torn down, and light will change, but moments are not forgotten. In painting these buildings and all the history,

love, and loss beneath each wall: I can preserve changing structures, fading memories, and passing time.

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
